Don't let the description about this book being a "love story" put you off. It may have characters in love, but how can any book about the end of the world NOT talk about the people we love either dying or living such a fate. This first book (I've read all but the last few three times since the series began) is just the beginning of a series of books. This first one is a little slow paced but the next books after become more dramatic and suspenseful. If you like reading stories in this genre, you will not be disappointed. It's a great book for teens and above and preteens if they are mature enough for the subject matter. There are no steamy sex scenes and the language is pretty mild. As I re-read the next books in the series I'll comment on whether or not these two qualifiers change. What I especially like about this series are the descriptions of everything these people do before "the end", to help them survive. If you are one of those people preparing a "bug out" place to go to, this book may give you some ideas you might want to implement in your own shelter. It definitely gave me a few things to think more carefully about!Product details

This is the first book in the series. It is about a young couple who win the lotto. The wife is an astronomer discovers that a meteorite is heading our way. I won't ruin the story by telling all of what they do to survive. When I read this book I couldn't wait to get the next. There is a 4th book coming out soon and I can't wait.
All you need is money and a mine and a lot if planning. There is always a countdown and what should be done just in case. Nothing goes perfectly and there are outsiders who are desperate and clever, too. I am moving on to the next book. There are always more problems, more chapters to fill and this is a clever author.
I enjoyed this story of a what if scenario. I watch shows on survivalists and prepping and it usually comes down to having a plan, a dependable group of people, and the funds to back it. The group in the story had a plan and luckily the funds. Though I wonder about the group of people they choosed, still too soon to say. I am surprised the government did not take severe action. Anyway I am looking forward to the next story
This series, like most I've encountered in kindle books, has the need for a good editor. I keep my distaste for the distraction of grammatical and poor word choice errors under control by adding a note to it. Sometimes it's as small as "all right" being misspelled as "alright." This author did well. I often quit reading when I make five notations on a page. The story is excellent, good characters, good story line.
I found this book on while searching for a good post apocalyptic book to read. This is a great story line that could have greatly benefited from a professional editor. It was obviously an indie author with none of the benefits of a professional publisher. I was able to overlook a lot due to my support of Indie authors and the author had a great premise. The only parts that really bothered me were the female dialog and the over use of "baby" as a term of endearment. Overall a good read.
I love this story of what if.... this is a love story about two people who find out the world is about to change and the steps they take to protect themselves and their loved ones. It gives really good ideas about how to prepare if something were to happen. It had moments that make you smile and times when you worry. I was hoping they would survive and win! A must read!!!
Don't know if Darrell is a pen name for an adolescent girl, but the writing sure is. The entire series is one protracted smarmy romance skit. There is no good wholesome violence although there is a reference to a fictitious 20 caliber machine gun, huh? More than a bit of proselytizing and embarrassing preaching too.
